Lenn Nijs kicked off his season with his first appearance in the Senior category during the IAME Winter Cup.

Lenn Nijs’ 2023 on track finally started with the first race of the season on the kart track in Valencia (Spain). It was a great way for the Belgian driver to put on his suit and helmet and hit the track in what is officially his new category, the Senior category.

The kart track in Valencia meant that Lenn had to adapt quickly, starting from the official qualifying where he managed to place sixth in Group F. A good start that then saw the Kart Republic driver face five demanding heats between Saturday and Sunday, always in a comeback with two P14s, a P11, a good P6 and an unfortunate retirement that, in any case, allowed Lenn to qualify for his first Senior final also thanks to the five positions recovered in the Superheat on Sunday morning.

The final was not easy starting from the back, but thanks to a good race pace and no mistakes, Nijs recovered ten places from the start to finish 22nd.

L.Nijs: “Obviously it’s not the result we are aiming for, but I’m still happy with how this first race weekend went and with all the positions recovered during the heats and the final. It is a good sign and we are on the right track. I thank my team and my mechanic. Ready for the next races!”
